Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,
As Principal of Barbour County Intermediate School, I would like to welcome you to the 2013-14 school year. As a small school, we have the opportunity to create the best learning experiences for all students, while maintaining a safe and conducive leaning environment. Our students are reaching new heights academically and socially.
These successes stem in part from our outstanding teaching staff. We have dedicated, disciplined, and resilient teachers whose primary focus is to promote student learning. The goals of Barbour County Intermediate School are to close the achievement gap, successfully implement the new Alabama Common Core Standards, and prepare all students for college and careers.
There are several significant things occurring on the Barbour County Intermediate School campus this year. There is a new and dedicated obligation to the incorporation of technology into our core curriculum, a restored emphasis in extra-curricular clubs and a rejuvenated commitment to our student uniform policy.
Please take the time to familiarize yourself with the student handbook and the ongoing events at Barbour County Intermediate School. You can keep up with events on our website, our monthly newsletter, and direct communication with school personnel. I encourage you to stay involved in your child’s education.
Kelvin James, Principal
